The Skateistan events in connection with the Southbank Centre’s Alchemy festival were huge successes. None of these activities would have been possible without the support and participation of a long list of people. The Skateistan UK team wishes to thank these people for making it all possible!
Monday 22 April was a busy press day for Skateistan founder Oliver Percovich and the UK team. In the morning Oliver was a guest in the ‘Outlook’ radio show on BBC World Service and later he appeared on both BBC World News and the Islam Channel.
In the hours up to Skateistan founder Oliver Percovich’s talk at the Southbank Centre’s Alchemy festival (see previous blog post), Oliver and the Skateistan UK team had invited everyone to a skate session at Southbank’s legendary skate park.
On Sunday 21 April Skateistan took part in the massive Alchemy festival at the Southbank Centre in London. The festival celebrates the best of contemporary music, dance, literature, art, fashion and design in the context of cross cultural relationships. Oliver Percovich, Skateistan’s founder, had been invited to Alchemy to give a talk about Skateistan as part of the festival’s ‘Afghanistan day’.
